A music studio in Leeds built for finishing songs
Mixing Hertz is an acoustically treated mixing and production studio at Chapel Works, Leeds. It’s built for independent artists and home producers who’ve taken their songs as far as they can alone and want to hear them properly.
When I moved to Leeds and fell for the local scene, I kept meeting artists with great songs stuck at 80%. They’d recorded at home, but bedroom monitoring and conflicting YouTube advice left them guessing at the last 20%.
Why I built it
So when a space came up at The Chapel, I built the room I wished I’d had: accurate, comfortable, and without the commercial studio price tag. Somewhere to finish your music, and understand every decision along the way.
Hear your music properly
The monitoring set up is built around the Barefoot Footprint 03’s which a great sized speaker for the room. They come with a switch that replicates legendary speakers like the Yamaha NS10 and the Aurotone which are both amazing for dialling in the midrange of your mix. Helping your music translate on all different types of listening systems.
To support this amazing speaker set up we use the incredible Audeze LCD X Planar Magnetic headphones. These allow us tear every last detail of your mix in the lows, highs, reverbs and so on.
